Remedial Massage Therapist
Interests: Prehabilation Sports Therapy; Nutrition; Triathlons; Ironman
Available: Monday, Friday and Saturday

Karen is a Sage graduate and remedial massage therapist with over 15 years’ experience of relieving the aches and pains of clients. She gained her early experience in a chiropractic clinic, massaging clients prior to their adjustments. She also supported the practice of a nautropath by providing clients with deep tissue massages to aid digestion, banish bloating and boost immunity.

Karen has a particular interest in prehabilation sports therapy, which she is currently studying. She aims to use sports therapy in conjunction with remedial massage to prevent injury as an integral part of a physical therapy treatment plan. Through the study of sports therapy Karen can alert clients to weaker areas of their body that might need attention to prevent injury happening.

When Karen isn’t healing others you can find her competing in marathons or cycling a few hundred kilometres preparing for a triathlon. Her ultimate goal is to compete in an Ironman challenge. Good nutrition plays a key role in Karen’s life and she enjoys the benefits of being a vegetarian.

If you’re feeling battered and bruised by the pressures of modern life and need to reduce stress and ease painful, tense muscles, Karen’s strong, deep, sweeping massage motion will unravel knots on a physical and mental level. Using her hands, arms and elbows in a variety of massage techniques, Karen will leave you feeling relaxed, replete and rejuvenated.

I am a passionate health and well-being professional. I consider the mind and the body as a whole and focus on the connections between the human being and their environment. Raised in Thailand as the youngest in a family of 8 children, I was introduced to the Buddhist values of love and compassion for all from a young age and continue to live these values today.

In Thailand I graduated as an accountant practising in the industry for 12 years before moving to Melbourne in 2001 to pursue my dream in International Trade and complete my Bachelor Degree in Transport and Logistics Management. By 2007 I became aware of my increased stress levels and health ailments due to a poor posture and long hours in front of computer screens. This realisation was the catalyst for me to change my life by channelling my energies into Natural Health Therapy.

I earned a Diploma of Remedial Massage Therapy from Swinburne TAFE, and is a member of the Australian Association of Massage Therapists. I have over 8 years of practical experience in massage therapy and now own and manage, Relative Therapies of South Melbourne.

I have always enjoyed the experience of different cultures and their cuisines and view quality food as medicine for the mind, body and soul. I am a believer in the old adages of “you are what you eat” and “live right for your type”, these strategies underpin my life style focus of health and well-being.

If you are feeling fatigued and your body and mind is out of sync, I can provide you with a unique blend of techniques that are firm but soothing and with a holistic approach that blends targeted therapeutic massage with overall indulgence. When applicable I also use gentle stretches, acupressure points and dry needle techniques to tailor a treatment specific for your needs. I use my intuition, knowledge and experience to “feel and sense” your aches and pains to relieve your muscular knots and kinks, as well as your mental maladies.

My signature treatment is a 90 minutes session combining a remedial treatment to address your complaint area first and then take you through general stretching with a head to toes indulgent massage.
