SHIATSU literally translates to 'finger pressure'. Originating from Japan, Shiatsu evolved from an ancient form of Japanese body therapy. It uses the pressure of the fingers, thumbs, palms, elbows and feet to activate and support the body’s natural energy flow. Benefits may include pain alleviation, stimulation of circulation, improved flexibility and relaxation. The treatment takes place on a soft futon on the floor. Loose, comfortable clothing is preferred as the treatment will often include stretches, limb rotation and gentle joint mobilisations.

ACUPUNCTURE is one of the oldest systems of medicine, dating back at least 3000 years. The underlying principle of Acupuncture is to treat a person as a whole rather than the isolated treatment of specific symptoms. By inserting fine needles into channels of energy, located just below the surface of the skin, an Acupuncturist can stimulate the body’s own healing response and help restore equilibrium between the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of an individual. Acupuncture can help with a wide variety of health complaints such as: anxiety & emotional stress; arthritis/rheumatism; asthma; back pain; botox-free facial revitalization; circulatory problems; depression; detoxification from nicotine etc; digestive complaints; general energy boost; gynaecological issues; infertility/menstrual problems; migraine/headache; sciatica; skin conditions; sleep problems; sports injuries; tennis/golfers elbow. Acupuncture can also be used as a "preventative medicine", maintaining health and wellbeing.

MASSAGE THERAPY: Massage involves healing by touch, which works the soft tissues of the body. It helps to improve functioning of joints & muscles, as well as promoting circulation & general body tone, also relieving mental & physical fatigue.

Cupping is often used in conjunction with massage, but is also a treatment in its own right. It is an ancient therapy, performed by introducing heat to create a vacuum inside a cupping vessel. When applied to the skin, suction is created which draws an increase of blood and Qi (vital energy) to an area of injury and imbalance.

Deep Tissue Massage is a relaxing, yet firm massage, designed to relieve chronic complaints and release tight & aching muscles. As part of this treatment, cupping may also be incorporated to further release tension.

Pregnancy Massage is available to you at any stage through your pregnancy, we will cater especially for you and make you as comfortable as possible.

Relaxation Massage is a soothing, gentle massage designed to relax the nervous system and relieve the physical tension & pain caused by everyday stress & strains.

Remedial/Clinical Massage involves having a full postural assessment to determine which structures are out of balance and correcting them using various soft tissue techniques. It is used for dysfunctions in the body, caused by soft tissue injuries or over use. Massage techniques, gentle joint mobilisation and specific muscle energy techniques are used throughout these treatments.

Seated Massage may be used for a quick relaxation or for those who are a little unsure about massage. This massage can be experienced fully clothed or with just a top removed. Only the head, neck and shoulders are involved (or any combination there of).

Sports Massage may be for pre or post event. A more vigorous massage to loosen up before an event or a wind down massage to encourage toxin removal after a sporting activity.

REFLEXOLOGY activates the body’s natural healing powers and works to establish the equilibrium necessary for normal functioning & wellbeing. This type of foot massage may improve circulation, reduce stress & tension and improve nerve supply to organs & tissues of the body. It is useful in treating an array of existing illnesses, correcting imbalances and is an effective alternative to maintaining good health, thus preventing illness.

AURICULAR THERAPY is the stimulation of specific points within the ear that can be utilised to alleviate health problems in other areas of the body. This is a therapeutic technique used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It can also be used to help addictions, weight control, stress and many other disorders of the body. Reflexology can be incorporated to complement the treatment.

AROMATHERAPY is the use of Pure Essential Oils on the Mind, Body & Soul. The Aromatherapy Massage uses 6 different techniques, very carefully combined to enhance the benefits of the Essential Oils, the techniques include: Swedish, Neuromuscular, Lymphatic & Acupressure Massage; and Reflexology & Polarity Therapy. The properties Essential Oils contain vary greatly due to the complex chemical arrangement of each plant source and when used correctly and with respect, should have no side effects. Using Aromatherapy in the home is beneficial, but using it to its full potential……the benefits can be amazing!

REIKI is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

CHINESE HOT STONE MASSAGE THERAPY is a treatment that uses the therapeutic qualities of hot and cold, as well as massage, to treat tension and stresses throughout the body. This wonderfully relaxing treatment can be an indulgence for yourself or can be combined with a more “remedial” type massage to support your body in dealing with physical ailments.

INFANT MASSAGE COURSE: Touch is a very powerful element in human bonding, as are communication, both verbal & non-verbal and prolonged eye contact. Infant massage encompasses and supports all of these important aspects of bonding. Delayed bonding may be situational i.e. premature birth, recovery from caesarean, medical complications, adoption, lack of physical & emotional support and post natal depression. In these cases Infant Massage can begin to recreate the elements of bonding. Learning to massage your baby could not be easier, a certified instructor is by your side and will guide you through each stroke until you feel confident in communicating your love through touch. Learning to relax yourself and create a peaceful and nurturing environment in which your baby will thrive is also an important aspect of this journey.
